Resultat från Mistra Arctic presenteras 9 juni i Umeå!

Den 8-12 juni pågår en stor konferens för arktiska humanister och samhällsvetare i Umeå.

På konferensens andra dag, fredagen den 9 juni, kommer Mistra Arctics forskare att presentera sina forskningsresultat under tre sessioner. Det kostar 15 euro (dvs ca 120 kr) att lösa en dagsbiljett. Du som är intresserad, kontakta gabriella.nordin@umu.se, så skickar hon en länk för registrering.

9 juni,            Tre sessioner: 10:30-12:00, 13:30-15:00 och 15:30-17:00. We cannot understand present or future resource use in northern Europe without understanding history. (Sessionsledare Carina Keskitalo).

Session I (10.30-12.00):

  3. What does the state want in the North?: From welfare state to de-regulation and re-regulation (Sverker Sörlin)
  4. Making sense of regional futures in a changing global context (Annika E. Nilsson, Niklas Eklund, Marie Jürisoo, Ekaterina Klimenko, Lize-Marié van der Watt)

Session II (13.30-15.00):

  1. The institutionalisation of forestry: how forestry was developed as ‘continuous land use’ (Jan Kunnas, Carina Keskitalo, Maria Pettersson, Olof Stjernström)
  2. Constructing mineral resources: networks and governance in the development of mining in the European Arctic (Dag Avango)
  3. The making of ‘wilderness’ and pleasure peripheries in a resource region, and their implications in policy (Dieter K. Müller, Joakim Byström, Olof Stjernström, Daniel Svensson)
  4. Ethnicity and resource rights in the European north, 17th –21st Century (Per Axelsson, Corinna Röver, Peter Sköld)

Session III: 15.30-17.00

  1. Energy regimes in the Scandinavian north, c.1900-2015 (Paul Warde)
  2. Marine Resources: Reconciling Environmental Concerns and Economic Opportunities in the Arctic (Sabine Höhler)
  3. Given institutional logics and path dependencies, how much can ‘soft means’ really change? A study of EIA, certification and CSR mechanisms compared with other types of instruments and their use in resource sectors (Lovisa Solbär, Carina Keskitalo; Hannelene Schilar; Maria Pettersson)
  4. Dynamics of Arctification in Russia—Institutional Change, Reification or Inertia? (Niklas Eklund)
